Fu-Gen closes on 100 MW RtB BESS project with Nala Renewables

Fu-Gen, the Swiss-based renewable energy developer and independent power producer, has delivered another substantial energy storage project in the Nordic Market. Fu-Gen has closed on a 100 MW ready-to-build, stand-alone battery energy storage system (BESS) located in Teuva muncipality, South Ostrobothnia region of Finland, with Nala Renewables, a global power and renewable energy platform and independent power producer.

This transaction, completed on 29th September 2026, is part of the framework agreement established between Fu-Gen and Nala Renewables in October 2025 for a ready-to-build BESS portfolio in Finland. This represents an important milestone for both parties, underscoring the productive partnership that has been established as well as the project’s strong technical and commercial readiness.

Seppo Tupeli, Fu-Gen Nordic Development Director, said:

“The successful divestment of this 100 MW ready-to-build BESS project in Finland demonstrates Fu-Gen's ability to originate, develop and deliver high-quality renewable energy assets across the Nordic region. The capital released through this transaction will support the continued maturation of our growing pipeline of wind and battery storage projects. It also enables an important new phase of our strategy. The rapid expansion of digital infrastructure requires clean and reliable power, and we are therefore developing data centre sites alongside our wind projects under a 'bring your own power' model, which provides digital infrastructure with a direct route to renewable energy. This represents a natural extension of our core expertise: developing projects that deliver new renewable capacity where it is needed most.”

Remy Verot, Nala Renewables Interim Chief Executive Officer, said:

“We are delighted to have closed on our third ready-to-build project with Fu-Gen, which brings our pipeline in Finland to 275MW / 550 MWh. Finland is a strategic market for BESS in Europe with a strong business case and we are delighted to continue expanding our footprint in the Nordics.”

Nala and Fu‑Gen have an established track record of delivering energy storage projects to the Nordic market, with Nala having previously acquired the 50 MW Kauhava and 125 MW Vuolijoki projects in 2025 and 2026 respectively.

Construction of the Kärppiö BESS project is expected to start later this year.
